FKIP – Student Association of Geography Education Study Program (Himago) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University Eleven March (UNS) Surakarta held a national webinar Equator 2021. The national webinar which was held on Saturday (09/10/2021) through the Zoom Meeting application and YouTube Streaming account for Himago FKIP UNS carried the theme “Answering the Challenges of Indonesia’s Demographic Bonus in the Era of Society 5.0 To Realizing SDGs 2030”.

This webinar is the grand closing or closing of the 2021 Equator event. The 2021 Equator itself is a work program of Himago FKIP UNS which consists of several series of activities. The series of activities include the National Essay Competition, Geography Olympiad Championship, and the Equatorial National Webinar.

Moderated by Dr. Rita Noviani, S.Si., M.Sc. as Lecturer of the Geography Education Study Program, FKIP UNS, this webinar presented two speakers. The speakers in this webinar are Dr. Yasin Yusup, S.Si., M.Si as the Head of the Geography Education Study Program (Kaprodi) FKIP UNS, and Ismail Fahmi, Ph.D. as the Founder of PT Media Kernels Indonesia. The Khatulistiwa 2021 Webinar is composed of two material presentation sessions.

In session one, the speaker was Dr. Yasin Yusuf, S.Si., M.Sc. He explained what Indonesia’s demographic bonus was and the ideal conditions to build it. In addition, he also explained what society 5.0 is starting from its benefits, sectors, and its role in SDGs 2030. According to him, the concept of Society 5.0 can realize SDGs 2030.

“The concept of society 5.0 for SDGs 12 will be realized because Society 5.0 presents problem-solving that is creative from various points of view and support these solutions with digital transformation,” said Yasin.

In session two, the speaker was Ismail Fahmi, Ph.D. He presented a material entitled “Society 5.0 and Sustainable Development Goals. Meanwhile, the sub-materials in his presentation were the origin, requirements, and development of Society 5.0 in Indonesia. He explained that the problem in the development of Society 5.0 in Indonesia is the low digital literacy of the community.

“In Indonesia, several cities have started implementing Smart City. One of the keys to developing Smart City and Society 5.0 is smart and healthy human resources (HR) to build technology and find social solutions. Unfortunately, Indonesia’s young generation is facing a big problem in literacy which is a prerequisite for Smart City and Society 5.0,” explained Ismail.
