FKIP – The Natural Science Education Student Association (Himadikpa) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta has finished organizing the General Study of Student Religion (Kurma). This study was held offline, on Saturday (1/6/2024), at the Nurul Huda Mosque Hall, UNS.

This study is held regularly as one of the work programs of Himadikpa. The study was opened by the Chairperson of Himadikpa, Fanny Diah Kusuama Yuliah. In her remarks, she hopes that the study participants can explore the knowledge conveyed by the speaker with a theme that is in accordance with the current condition of students. The next speech was delivered by Mrs. Annisa who was in charge of representing the Himadikpa Trustees.

“The current generation of students is a smart generation. However, what about the creativity of today’s students? A good digital footprint can be your own charity later. Through this study, hopefully we can increase our knowledge even if it is only one verse,” said Mrs. Annisa.

Taking the theme “The Busyness of Gen Z Students: Barrier or Opportunity to Strengthen Faith?”, this study presented a resource person who is active in the development of Gen Z, namely Ustaz Drs. Diastono, M.Pd. In his presentation, Ustaz Diastono said that coming to the assembly of knowledge has many benefits because sitting for a moment in the assembly of knowledge is better than praying 1000 rak’ahs. In fact, one’s sitting position when attending an assembly of knowledge can give a different perception and of course the rewards obtained are also different.

As Generation Z, we need to think together that the world life with all its busyness must still be accompanied by the strength of faith. The busyness of the current generation can be a barrier or a strengthener of faith, so it is important for Gen Z to determine each of their priorities. If Gen Z makes their busyness a means of strengthening faith, then in the midst of their busyness, God will make the places of activity enjoyable.

“Today, we are talking like this is a form of gratitude. Before living in this world, humans are said to be dead. Then, God brings us back to life in this world, and then we will surely die again. So what we need to face the last day is faith. The strength and weakness of this belief can determine our next life,” said Ustaz Diastono.

Furthermore, Ustaz Diastono explained that Gen Z must be grateful and utilize the role of students that has been given by Allah SWT as a way to be more pious. Gen Z’s busyness is no longer choosing between a barrier or a strengthener of faith, but an opportunity to strengthen faith. After the presentation of the material, this study was closed with a question and answer session and a joint documentation session.
