FKIP – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Regional Arts Development Unit (UPKD) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta presented puppets show in a series of PKKMB activities, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) UNS on Sunday (15 /8/2021).
Playing the play “Sri Boyong”, musical players from the UPKD FKIP UNS team worked on puppets for one hour. On this occasion, Tino Widya Wisudawan as the Head of UPKD played the role of the mastermind who played the play. Tino said that previously the UPKD team was contacted by the committee to fill in the welcoming ceremony for new students at the FP PKKMB activity.
“We were contacted to take part in welcoming FP new students and performing solid work puppets as offerings to fill a series of events. The duration we played was approximately one hour, “ Tino explained.

Tino said that he and the UPKD team carried out the puppet show directly in one of the FP buildings, namely in the Hall of Building B on the 3rd floor of the FP.
“We performed live in the Hall of Building B, 3rd floor of FP. Then, the committee in charge of presenting it online so that new students can see it,” said Tino.
Tino explained the reason the play was played was “Sri Boyong”. In the play, it is told about the figure of Dewa Amral or Tiwikrama from Puntadewa. The figure of Dewa Amral has a physical form like a giant or blind. However, this form does not make Amral God have the nature of a giant or blind. The presentation of the story about Amral God is in accordance with the PKKMB FP 2021 mascots, namely Dewa Amral, Puntadewa, and Dewi Sri.
“The play (Sri Boyong) tells about the figure of Dewa Amral or Tiwikrama from Puntadewa in the form of a giant but does not have the characteristics of being blind or giant. Dewa Amral himself became the mascot of the PKKMB of the Faculty of Agriculture this year,” said Tino.
At the beginning of the performance, Tino and the UPKD musical team described each character accompanied by song and gamelan sounds. Furthermore, Tino began to play his role as a puppeteer starting from telling the beginning of the story with the available shadow puppet media then continuing until the end. At the end of the presentation, the UPKD team closed by conveying their hopes to FP UNS.
