FKIP – Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Language and Literature Lecturers (ADOBSI) and the Association of Language Education Study Programs and Indonesian Literature (IKAPROBSI) held a webinar titled “Seminar and Workshop for Education, Social Science, Art, and Humanities” (SEWORD FRESSH #3) on Friday (27/8/2021) via Zoom Cloud Meeting.
This activity carries the theme “Language Acceleration in The Pandemic Era”. This activity was presented speakers in the field of Indonesian, namely Prof. George Quinn of the National Australia University, Dr. Gautam Kumar Jha from Jawaharlal Nehru University India, Prof. Endry Boeriswati from Jakarta State University (UNJ) Indonesia, Dr. Kundharu Saddhono, and Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi from UNS Indonesia.
This SEWORD FRESSH #3 activity was carried out with the aim of facilitating students to learn to write scientific articles and strengthen research in the Indonesian language field.
“This activity is a concern for the Study Program which sees students (especially undergraduates), very few who attend international seminars, including the preparation of scientific articles, so we hope that this activity can be put to good use so that students can actually compose scientific articles well,” asserted Dr. Budhi Setyawan as Head of the PBSI FKIP UNS Undergraduate Study Program.
The activity was continued with a material presentation by Prof. George Quinn from Australia. The material presented was about the existence of the Indonesian language and the politics of learning Indonesian in Australia.
“Indonesian subjects are ranked the fourth most studied by students in the state of Victoria, Australia with a total of 63,022 students,” said Prof. George.

Prof. George also added that there were 14 study programs that opened Indonesian language studies with an estimated 1,400 students, this shows the existence of the Indonesian language is quite popular in Australia.
The next material was delivered by Dr. Gautam from India. He presented material on research design for education.
“Education and sustainable development must understand the orientation of research, and understand that education is centered on crafts, related to the industry, leading to maturity, emotional development, and independence,” he explained.
The presentation of the third material, namely by Prof. Endry Boeriswati who presented material on intellectual and socio-emotional learning in language learning in the pandemic era. He explained that socio-emotional learning is intended so that a person has superior character in a particular field, which will be associated with cognition and character qualities.

Then, Dr. Kundharu as the fourth speaker brought material about BIPA Research. He explained that learning Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA) can be linked to the diversity of Indonesian culture. Furthermore, Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi brought material on strategies for writing scientific publications in the fields of language, literature, and teaching. Dr. Rohmadi emphasized that to produce good writing, it is very important to enrich reading by increasing literacy. The activity ended with a question and answer session between the presenters and the audience.
