FKIP – On Sunday (15/8/2021) located at Srau Beach, students who were carrying out a Real Work Lecture (KKN) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta collaborated with the village government and the local environmentalist community to carry out beach clean-up activities. This activity was carried out in Candi Village to celebrate the 76th Independence Day (HUT) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), which is currently still taking place during the pandemic. The focus of the activities carried out was cleaning the coast from garbage, then sorting and conducting a trash audit to find out what types of inorganic waste were found along the coastline.

This activity, which was overseen by the nature lover community Trash Hero, has also been associated with the same global-scale activity where the trash audit in its function can find out what kind of largest contributor of inorganic waste is and can even find out which products are made from anywhere. It is hoped that there will be a solution from the product manufacturing company so as not to cause problems that result in the environment and the product manufacturing company can find alternative solutions so that the resulting product waste does not cause serious problems that result in the environment.

According to Annisa, one of the initiators of this activity, it was actually more difficult to implement KKN during the pandemic, especially the difficulty in planning activities while still being able to prioritize social distancing and not trigger crowds, especially during the implementation of the Community Activity Restriction Program (PPKM).

“Because of the implementation of PPKM, we are trying to make some activities that do not have to be in direct contact with the community, and can still implement prokes. One of these activities was because tourism is also currently closed. Alhamdulillah, the village supports and gives permission for the implementation of this beach clean-up activity,” she said.

The head of Trash Hero Pacitan, Genta also said that the nature lover community Trash Hero was happy to be able to take part in this activity. According to his explanation, after the PPKM policy and the closure of tourism, the community is no longer active in cleaning the beach.

According to Annisa, it is hoped that from this activity, other tourism that was forced to close for tourists due to the pandemic and PPKM conditions must be maintained, so that later when the PPKM policy is lifted and the world is free from the Covid-19 pandemic, tourism has been opened, Srau Beach will be immediately ready to be opened without restoration in good condition and facilities.
