FKIP – Student Community Service Program (KKN) Sebelas Maret University ( UNS) Surakarta group 137 helped prevent the Covid-19 virus by providing education on the manufacture of handwashing soap to residents of Jagalan Village. The education was a form of student response in responding to the Covid-19 case that had soared in Jagalan Village.

The group of 137 which was guided by Prof. Dr. Pujiyono, SH, MH consisted of Ridwan Dwiki Nugroho, Shinta Nur Afifah, Yasser Ashidiqi, Andhar Andrianto, Zharfa Hafizhotul Qonita, Anggie Sri Lestari, Fajar Yanawira Puspita, Happy Rindu Romantika, Dzikri Ghufranillah, and Putri Kurniasari. Ridwan Dwiki Nugroho as the chairman conveyed the hope and purpose of education on the manufacture of hand washing soap.

“We took the initiative to provide education on the manufacture of hand soap. The hope is that the residents who attend can share and apply the knowledge they have gained so that they can provide handwashing soap in every home,” said Dwiki.

Happy as the person in charge of this program explained that the tools and materials used were easy to find. Its manufacture uses texapon, NaCl, distilled water, glycerin, lime, fragrances, and dyes.

“The tools and materials to make hand soap are easy to find. We need seven ingredients, namely texapon, NaCl, distilled water, glycerin, lime, fragrance, and dye,” explained Happy.

Next, Happy explained the procedure for making simple hand soap. She said that to make handwashing soap, you only need to mix all the available ingredients one by one.

“The way to make it is simple. Mix all the ingredients into a bowl, then stir all the ingredients until well blended. After thoroughly mixed, hand soap needs to be left on for three days before it can be used,” explained Happy.

After three days of letting it sit, the hand soap is ready to use. The UNS 137 KKN team distributed these products to the community and public places in need.
