FKIP – Science Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas March (UNS) Surakarta held an IPA Webinar. This webinar is part of a series of Science Education Fair (SEF) activities in 2021. The activity was moderated by Laili Khairun Nisa’, a student of Science Education FKIP UNS, and presented national speakers, namely Dr.rer.nat Maulidan Firdaus, S.Si., M.Si. as a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNS and Lenang Manggala, Founder and CMO of Nyalanesia, and business consultant for LPK Bina Nusantara.
This national webinar activity carries the theme “Strategy for Increasing Interest in Scientific Writing in the field of Science and Technology as a Catalyst towards a Golden Indonesia in 2045.” This series of SEF activities also include a National Essay Competition for students and a National Poster Competition for junior high school students.
In his speech, Prof. Slamet Subiyantoro as Deputy Dean 1 for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs appreciated the implementation of this activity. He said that the SEF activity that had been carried out for the third time was extraordinary, especially referring to the 8 main performance indicators (KMI) issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. SEF activities which consist of various competitions helped to achieve KPI 2 at the national level.
The activity was continued with a material presentation by Dr.rer.nat Maulidan. He explains how to write good scientific articles for reputable international journals. He explained the reason someone writes that is for the magnitude of the usefulness of the writings we write (transfer of knowledge). In addition, he also explained the importance of preparation in writing journal articles.

“There are things that can be prepared in writing journal articles, including 1) checking the novelty of ideas (by checking related articles), 2) determining the type of manuscript, whether the article is original, short communication, or journal review, 3) choosing a journal. the right way, 4) read the author’s guideline, 5) the method/use of the right method,” explained Dr. Maulidan.
The activity continued with a material presentation by Lenang Manggala. He explained about the authorship of the book to be able to thas theses (read: fast). He explained that writing a book is easy, the analogy is like someone wants to go (hang out) to a cafe.
“In writing a book, it is easy or difficult depending on how you think about it. The bottom line is that it’s not always as easy as you might think, and at the same time it’s not as hard as you think,” says the author of 80 books.
Lenang Manggala also provides five steps for thas-thes book publishing, namely 1) write something at least 50 pages, 2) arrange it, give it a title, and add your name, 3) find an indie publisher and capital, 4) follow the publishing and printing process, and 5) Find readers and buyers of your book.
The activity was continued with a question and answer discussion and ended with the presentation of certificates to the presenters, group photos, and the delivery of closing statements from the speakers.
“Hopefully, my friends read a lot, so that later they can work, and can convey useful knowledge so that the next generation can use it. Wherever you are, whatever your condition, whatever your GPA, don’t forget to work. Because in the end, what people know is his work,” concluded Dr. Maulidan and Lenang Manggala respectively.
