FKIP – The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic requires social restrictions as a preventive measure. This has resulted in declining economic conditions which have an impact on the people of Giriroto Village. Responding to this problem, students who are members of the 151 Real Work Lecture (KKN) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta innovate to provide training on making economical dish soap for mothers of Family Welfare Development (PKK). This was conveyed by Ade Pangestu as the coordinator of group 151.
“During the pandemic, all sectors were affected by Covid-19, including the economy of Giriroto Village. Moreover, with the implementation of PPKM (Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities), the economy is increasingly stagnant. Together with PKK women, we invite them to learn together to hone creativity by innovating to make dish soap that is practical and economical,” explained Ade Pangestu as the coordinator of the 151 group.
The program carried out by Ade Pangestu, Rifki Hikmawan, Bachtiar Indra Rifai, Clarisa Fidya Fitri, Ava Ananda Gitaloka, Nurul Khotimah, Dyah Permata Ulfah, Heni Melawati, Annisa Siti Sholikah, and Elsi Putri Handayani ran for approximately 1.5 hours. The training in making dish soap also received guidance from Dr. Bowo Sugiharto, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Ade also conveyed the hope and purpose of holding this handwashing soap-making training activity.
“Hopefully, the knowledge gained from this activity can be disseminated to the RT (Rukun Tetangga) women of each hamlet and can be used as ideas to build UMKM,” said Ade.
Fadhila, a member of the KKN group, explained the technical implementation of making hand soap.
“After arriving at the location, the PKK women were immediately given an explanation of the material in the form of a video of the manufacturing procedure. Then, together, we demonstrated the making of dish soap,” said Fadhila. According to Fadhila, this program was quite easy because the tools and materials used are easy to find
This training was well received by the trainees. This was conveyed by Sundari as one of the training participants.
“It turns out that making dish soap is very easy. I want to share my knowledge with PKK women in my RT,” said Sundari.
