FKIP – Team 337 Real Work Lecture Group (KKN) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an action inviting clean and healthy living in Ringindadi Village, Jenggrik Village, Kedawung District, Sragen Regency, Central Java Province on Sunday (22/8/2021). The thematic KKN was carried out during the pandemic was used by students to invite the residents of the Ringindadi Village area to implement healthy and clean living behaviors and the use of family medicinal plants (toga). This program was intended to maintain health and strengthen citizens’ immunity.
The characteristics of people of Ringindadi Village generally work in the agricultural sector or entrepreneurship and have Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) whose work is carried out offline. Based on these considerations, the 337 KKN Group organized an offline activity with a focus on providing socialization of clean and healthy living so that people are educated and not easily infected with diseases. The socialization activity was carried out at the House of the RT Head of Rringindadi Village.
The activity began with an opening by the head of the RT, explaining the importance of clean and healthy living, providing material about several toga plants, the use of toga plants, and interactive discussions between residents about the use of toga plants that have been carried out. On the day of the activity, the villagers of Ringindadi gathered and received material on healthy and clean living behavior, and the use of the toga plant. As is known, the toga plant is a plant that can be cultivated at home, and has medicinal properties, and maintains the body’s immune system.
During the socialization activity, the KKN 337 group provided a tote bag containing drinking bottles, hand sanitizer, masks, rosella tea, and material books. The provision of rosella tea to residents was carried out because the content of rosella tea is efficacious to inhibit the absorption of saturated fatty acids and reduce triglyceride and bad cholesterol levels in the body. In addition, rosella is useful in maintaining stable blood sugar levels, lowering total cholesterol levels, and increasing good cholesterol levels.
The activity went smoothly. The activity ended with a question and answer session with the presenters. After the event, residents who took part in this socialization activity received ginger seeds to take home. The ginger seeds given to the residents are expected to be useful and become a form of implementation of this socialization activity. It is hoped that this activity can increase awareness of clean and healthy living for the people of Ringindadi Village.
“It is hoped that through this socialization it can increase awareness of clean and healthy living for the community, especially the people of Ringindadi Village,” said Arianti, one of the KKN participants.
