FKIP – Master’s Degree Program in Mathematics Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret held an International Guest Lecture with the theme “PISA Studi: International Webinar od Master’s Degree on Mathematics Education” through Zoom Meeting and the official youtube channel for the Master of Mathematics Education UNS on Saturday (18/9/2021).

The event, which was moderated by Aprilia Nur Utami, presented by Prof. Kaye Stacey from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is a consultant on education systems in Australia and abroad who has published around 400 works, including research articles, articles for mathematics teachers, and an increasing number of electronic resources with a current Scopus h-index of 16.

Prof. Stacey delivered the material with the title “Idea for Teaching from PISA Mathematics”. At the beginning of the material, Prof. Stacey delivered an outline covering PISA basics, finding samples to surpass international rankings, and teaching math literacy.

“I hope to have some free time to give you some ideas about teaching mathematical literacy,” said Prof. Stacey.

Furthermore, Prof. Stacey talks about the main features of PISA. She said that PISA was created by the government with the main task of making decisions, policies, and practices related to education to improve education.

“PISA was created by the government with the task of helping the government make decisions, policies, and practices about education to improve education,” explained Prof. Stacey.

Prof. Stacey also presents data from countries participating in PISA from year to year, OECD country notes – Indonesia, mathematics by proficiency level – Australia, the main domain of mathematics.

Furthermore, Prof. Stacey presents several math problems to discuss with the webinar participants. The presentation of Prof. Stacey ends with a question and answer session.
