FKIP – A total of 832 students from 306 cities and regencies in Indonesia took part in the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) orientation activity in the class IV 2021 Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta on Monday (13/9/2021) ). The orientation activity, which was held online through Zoom Meeting and the SEMAR TV Youtube Channel, was opened by Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. as the Dean of FKIP UNS.

In his speech, Dr. Mardiyana said that education in Indonesia, when viewed from the achievement of PISA’s international ranking, has always been in a low position. It has always been a question of why the quality of Indonesian education has not improved. Therefore, the government wants an increase in the quality of Indonesian education starting by improving the quality of teachers, one of which is through the PPG program.
“So this PPG is in the context of improving the quality of teacher competencies, both pedagogic competence, professional competence, social competence, and personality competence,” he said.
The first speaker, Okta Hadi Nurcahyono, M.Pd., M.Sc. said that in deepening the material for Problem-Based Teaching Material Analysis, two main things need to be considered, namely the field of study/professional module and the pedagogical module.
“After studying this module, I hope you have found out what problems you are facing. So, it can be a provision for the process of deepening the material,” he explained.
Furthermore, on the material for developing learning devices, Dr. Nur Arifah Drajati, M.Pd. said that the stages of developing learning tools consisted of five activities, namely problem identification, activity design, peer teaching, reflection, and RTL.
“The stages consist of five activities, namely problem identification, activity design, peer teaching, reflection, and RTL. Each of these stages will be carried out and guided by lecturers,” said Dr. Nur Arifah.
Prof. Dr. Suciati, M.Pd. as the third speaker explained that the implementation of PPL was carried out in three cycles for 31 days. “Our PPL is for 31 days, later divided into three cycles. The activities carried out consist of class repairs, learning practices, journaling, completing bills, reflecting on activities with supervisors and tutors, making a list of case settlements, and carrying out follow-up actions,” explained Prof. Suciati.
The last speaker, Muhammad Faruq Afif, S.Pd., M.Kom. explained that this online PPG activity will be carried out through a Learning Management System (LMS). The use of LMS is only carried out in deepening the material, developing learning tools, comprehensive testing, and PPL practice.
“LMS is used as a leading portal that will guide PPG participants to carry out activities during this PPG series,” explained Muhammad Faruq.
The event was closed by the Head of the Teacher Professional Education Study Program (PPG) FKIP UNS, Dr. AG Tamrin M.Pd., M.Si. He explained that the PPG In-Position Orientation for Class IV was attended by 18 fields of study.
