FKIP – The Islamic Activity Center (SKI) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Muslim Entrepreneurship Seminar (MES) 2021 with the theme “Generate Optimism and Create Entrepreneurial Opportunities in a Pandemic Period” through Zoom Cloud Meeting on Saturday (11/9/2021).
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and a speech from the chairman of the committee. The activity was officially opened by Dr. Moh. Muchtarom, S. Ag., M.S.I. as the supervisor of SKI FKIP UNS. “The main value of FKIP graduates is to become a teacher, but not a few are also entrepreneurs, even doing both,” said Muchtarom in his speech.
Moderated by Bayu Rizki Prasadityo, MES 2021 presented speaker Rendra Mochtar Habibie who is a digital marketing expert. Rendra started the material by telling his business journey. “I have started entrepreneurship since I was in college when I received funding from the entrepreneurship student program. I started a book publishing business, but it only lasted four months,” he explained.

Rendra conveyed the things needed in business. The hope is that with this knowledge, he can survive the business he is undergoing. “There are three bits of knowledge that must be held when starting a business. First, we need knowledge. Second, we need to learn digital marketing. Digital marketing is further divided into three, there are traffic, conversions, and relationships. Third, community,” said Rendra.
Rendra also shared tips for participants who want to start a business, namely collaboration, mental change, and budgeting. He emphasized that starting a business does not always have to pay for every service used. Businesses can invite people to collaborate and then share the results. According to Rendra, a businessman should not have a free mentality. “Take paid classes whether cheap or expensive. Then do budgeting at least once a month,” said Rendra
The event ended with a question and answer session and a closing statement from Rendra. “When you want to be an entrepreneur, don’t make money your main capital. But when you have public speaking, writing, or design skills, that’s the main capital that we can maximize. Even the knee is the most important capital from God that we are rarely grateful for. Because when we are rarely grateful for being able to walk, it turns out that many people want to be able to walk,” he concluded.
