FKIP – The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the Mayang Village community in changing their work orientation. This was explained by the village head of Mayang. According to him, many residents of the village were sent home.
“Pandemics like this, people are having a hard time because they have been laid off. Now, many have even opened small shop businesses. The community suddenly became independent entrepreneurs,” said Harjono as the Head of Mayang Village.
The shift in work orientation of the Mayang Village community is not balanced with the use of qualified technology. In reaching consumers, they are still limited to the use of banner ads only, have not been able to penetrate the wider online market. These problems prompted the Team of 220 Sebelas Maret University (UNS) that did Real Work Lectures (KKN) to help increase the reach of the consumer market broadly.

The Community Service Team consisting of Ajeng Pangesti, David Bagus Kuncoro, Fajri Fawwaz, Fauzan Muhammad Iqbal, Hasna Azhari, Karennina Cahya, Siti Rohmani Solikah, and Vembi De Salachima made an Android-based application to market various business products in Mayang Village. Making the application begins with collecting data in the form of business location points, as well as brief information related to the business.
Data collection was carried out offline by the KKN team while still paying attention to health protocols. The Android application to market businesses in Mayang Village is called U-May. The features contained in this application are business search, business information, open street map, google satellite, and routes to the place of business. Meanwhile, the information displayed includes the name of the business, owner, product, hours of operation, price, and the category of the business itself.
Application installation can also be done independently. The KKN team submitted the application in the form of a Compact Disk (CD) through the Mayang Village Head. In addition, the UNS 220 KKN team also published through social media to promote U-May. Furthermore, they also conducted socialization regarding the benefits and technicalities of using U-May to the Mayang Village Youth Organization.
Making this application is expected to increase the reach of consumers broadly because people can download and install applications on their cellphones so that when people need goods, they can directly access the U-May application with one touch.
