FKIP – A number of students who are members of the Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta Real Work Lecture (KKN) Group 262 initiated a program. The program was Taman Baca Asik, a public reading room facility specifically for children, as well as the surrounding community to read books, explore information through reading, increase knowledge, improve writing skills, and increase vocabulary.

In order to achieve the success of this program, the UNS Group 262 KKN held several activities at the Asik Reading Park. These activities include preparing reading book facilities from various circles, arranging reading garden rooms, providing stacking shelves and study tables, providing various kinds of writing utensils, holding joint reading activities twice a week, and creating online and offline study groups.

This Fun Reading Park is located in one of the rooms of the Gunan Village Hall. In attracting the interest of children in Gunan Village, the UNS Group 262 KKN team put up a banner as a marker for the Fun Reading Garden activity.

The Fun Reading Garden was symbolically inaugurated by Suyadi as the Head of Gunan Village on Thursday (19/8/2021). He thanked the UNS KKN team.

“I am grateful to the UNS KKN Group 262 who have helped a lot as well as to grow and guide the children of this village to be enthusiastic in learning and literacy, which when viewed from their daily habits, children in this village on average have an interest in going to school that low. Coupled with the existence of mobile phones that make interest to read even become very abandoned. I hope that the facilities provided by the UNS KKN team can be of sustainable use for the children of Gunan Village,” said Suyadi.

The UNS KKN Group 262 team hopes that this program will continue even though the UNS KKN service period has ended. They will always monitor the success of the program that has been inaugurated through representatives of groups domiciled in the area.
