FKIP – Another proud achievement was achieved by the students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta. Physics Education Study Program students, Annisa Dwi Nursanti and Indah Wahyu Setyaningrum managed to win 2nd place in the Science Week National Essay Competition organized by the Graffiti Physics Study Program Student Association.
This activity was carried out online and through several stages of the competition. The activities of this championship were through a selection of works, judging of essays, presentation of essays, and announcement of the championship. The announcement of the winners was held on Sunday (10/10/2021), Annisa and Indah were declared successful winners of this competition.
This year’s Science Week Essay Competition activity carried the theme “Optimizing the Role of Indonesian Students in Efforts to Improve Human Resources through Science and Technology Post-Covid-19 pandemic”. This theme was carried out by looking at the pandemic situation and health crisis that is engulfing the global community. In this activity, Indah and Annisa highlighted the education sector affected by the pandemic.
They conveyed their ideas with an essay entitled “All-Smart (Once Smart Book): Digital-Based Children’s Activity Book Innovation to Maintain Indonesian Children’s Literacy Culture Post-Covid-19 Pandemic”. Indah emphasized that literacy innovation is very much needed in the current situation, especially during the pandemic and post-pandemic, innovation in reading materials, and reading facilities are needed to maintain the literacy culture of the community.
In her statement, Indah hopes that her ideas and essays can be useful in maintaining the literacy culture of Indonesian children after the pandemic situation that hit. This is to meet the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in 2045.
“The expected benefit of this essay is (hopefully) it can maintain the literacy culture of Indonesian children post-pandemic in order to realize SDG’s 2045,” explained Indah.
Indah continues her future plan, which is to develop All-Smart innovation so that it will be better and able to improve the literacy culture of children in Indonesia.
