FKIP – Student Association of Gravitational Physics Study Program (HMP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a blood donation activity on Saturday (9/10/2021). The activity was carried out offline in the Lobby of Building D FKIP UNS.
This activity was intended for UNS students and academics who want to donate blood. This activity took place as a form of collaboration between HMP Gravity Physics FKIP UNS and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Surakarta.
This blood donation program is one of the routine work programs of the Graffiti Physics HMP which is carried out every year.
“The blood donation activity is a routine activity carried out by the Graffiti Physics Study Program Student Association. Generally, this activity is held twice a year, but due to the pandemic situation, this activity is only held once,” explained Artiwi, the organizer of this activity.
Artiwi explained that participants who take part in the blood donation program need to follow several steps, such as registration by filling in their personal data on a Google form. After that, enter the Whatsapp group via the link provided, and coordinate through the Whatsapp group room.
“The steps taken to be able to participate in blood donation activities are registration and technical explanations of activities through the Whatsapp group. In addition, to ensure that donors can donate blood, namely through health screening. After that, it is stated whether or not it is permissible to participate in blood donations,” said Artiwi.
Artiwi also explained that the current pandemic situation made the committee need extra preparation to organize this activity. The implementation of this activity was very concerned about the development of the Covid-19 situation, as well as mitigation efforts that can be done.
“Preparations from the committee for organizing this activity include reviewing the conditions and the surrounding situation, licensing and borrowing places, preparing tools and other necessities, as well as designing the lobby of building D so that it will be closed,” continued Artiwi.
Artiwi hopes that in the future, this activity can be carried out again with more mature preparation. Moreover, according to her, this activity was very positive and foster empathy also concern for others.
“Hopefully this positive activity can foster a sense of empathy between communities, as well as foster a sense of caring between fellow human beings. In the future, hopefully, this activity can be better prepared, it can be carried out twice a year, and the participation of the UNS academic community will also increase again, ” Artiwi concluded.
