FKIP UNS – Postgraduate Educational Technology Master’s Degree Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Webinar Visiting Professor Series for two days, on 27 and 29 September 2021.
This event aims to strengthen and sharpen the research skills of students and lecturers. The event began with remarks from Dr. Triana Rejekiningsih, M.Pd. as the Head of the Master of Educational Technology Study Program. In his speech, Dr. Triana Rejekiningsih, M.Pd. emphasized the importance of the Visiting Professor activity as part of the internationalization program carried out by the UNS campus, especially FKIP.
“This visiting professor activity is an effort to improve the quality of lectures by sharing knowledge from reputable foreign lecturers, as well as increasing research and the number of publications in various indexed journals,” explained the Head of the Educational Technology Masters Program.

The speech was continued by Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. as the Dean of FKIP UNS. In his speech, Dr. Mardiyana emphasized the purpose of this event and gave appreciation to the presenters and 300 participants who attended on the first day.
“This event is important to support the Main Performance Indicators of Sebelas Maret University Surakarta to strengthen cooperation by holding visiting professors from foreign institutions,” explained Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si.
Furthermore, the presentation of the material by Asst. Professor Ju Seong Lee from The Education University of Hong Kong moderated by Dr. Nur Arifah Drajati, M.Pd. Prof. Lee delivered the material with the theme “Mixed Method Research & Quantitative Data Collection”.
In his presentation, Prof. Lee emphasized the importance of a researcher adapting to conditions, especially during a pandemic because the pattern of research experienced a significant shift, starting from the process of extracting data, analyzing, and reporting. He suggested using the help of applications, such as Linkedin, researchgate, and Academia to publish research drafts (preprints) so that experts can provide input.

On the second day, 29 September 2021, the webinar continued with the title “Quantitative Data Analysis”. The activity was moderated by Dr. Muhibbudin Fadhli, M.Pd with Asst. Professor Ju Seong Lee as a presenter. This activity runs interactively because the participants are enthusiastic to see and try demonstrations of using the application directly by Prof. Lee.
Prof. Lee uses the Jamovi app for quantitative data analysis. He said that this application is free and very easy to use. In addition, participants also received several materials and articles by Prof. Lee for free published in reputable international journals.
