FKIP – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held the FKIP Ready to Serve (FSM) 2021 activity as a form of embodiment of the Tri Dharma Principles of Higher Education, namely Community Service. This activity was held for two days on Saturday-Sunday (30-31/10/2021) in Karangwinangun Hamlet, Tepisari Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency.

The first day’s activities were teaching activities. The activity consisted of teaching at SD Negeri 2 Tepisari and teaching TPQ in Karangwinangun Hamlet on Saturday (20/10/2021). Meanwhile, the second activity was in the form of social service activities. The activity consisted of distributing basic food items and free health checks for residents in Karangwinangun Hamlet.

Tegar Fakhrizal as the Chair of the 2021 FSM Committee explained that this activity has a goal that is more inclined towards education. Meanwhile, the purpose of FSM itself is to instill character education in children in Karangwinangun Hamlet, as well as to provide services and assistance to the residents there.

“Considering that FKIP itself has an educational or teaching background, the goal of FSM is also more directed towards education. The purpose of this year’s FSM is to provide character education to children around Tepisari Village, such as cultivating care, creativity, and responsibility for them. In addition, FSM also has a goal to have a positive impact on the people there. For example, trying to provide services and help ease the burden on the people there, ” Tegar explained.



In the future, Tegar hopes that this activity can lead the committee and volunteers who are prospective educators to gain experience serving in the community and increase their competencies as prospective teachers. Tegar hopes that the relationship between committee members and FSM 2021 volunteers will be maintained. Furthermore, Tegar also hopes that with this activity, the people there will feel entertained and helped.

“Hopefully by participating in this activity, fellow committee members and volunteers as prospective educators will gain experience in serving. They can also improve their personality, add to their social side, process the knowledge they have acquired, and become professional individuals. I hope that communication between us will be maintained, even though the activities have been completed. For the community itself, I hope that this FSM can introduce the campus world to the community so that our communication and friendship can be established. Furthermore, I hope the community will feel happy and helped, “said Tegar.
