FKIP – The Student Association of Economics Education Study Program (Himanomi) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a hamlet activity (dusbin) in Gulon Village RW 20, Jebres, Surakarta. This activity lasted for seven months, namely during April-October with Andreas Handika Setiawan in charge and Gangga Santika Alvidya Putri Refindra.
The target hamlet or dusbin is one of Himanomi’s work programs whose implementation involves children in Gulon village. In practice, the assisted hamlets were carried out using two methods, namely online and offline, taking into account the situation and conditions. This activity was held every Saturday for a period of seven months.
This activity was intended for students of the Economic Education Study Program (Prodi) of FKIP UNS and children in Gulon Village. The purpose of this dusbin activity is to channel knowledge and develop the potential of the children participating in the assisted hamlets, to raise students’ awareness of the surrounding community, and to use it as a teaching exercise for students.
Before carrying out the activities of the assisted hamlets, the committee first conducted a survey to determine the right location. Furthermore, the committee started with the inaugural opening by inviting the Head of the Economic Education Study Program (Kaprodi) of FKIP UNS, the Head of RW 20 Gulon Village online, and the children participating in the assisted hamlets offline.
In the series of events, Himanomi’s assisted hamlets conducted learning activities with the children of RW 20 of Gulon Village, making crafts, playing together, and other useful activities that could channel children’s interests and talents. This activity ends with a closing which will be held at the end of October 2021.
The organizing committee hopes that with this work program, students are able to channel their interests and talents to children in Gulon Village RW 20, Jebres so that the participants in the assisted hamlets can take lessons and benefits. In addition, the committee hopes that this activity can strengthen the relationship between students and the people of Gulon Village RW 20.
Therefore, Alma as the head of the committee for the activities of Himanomi’s hamlets conveyed the plans to be carried out regarding this activity.
“The plan is that if there are no major obstacles, the assisted hamlets can continue to be implemented in the following years because there are many benefits that can be taken from this work program. Hopefully, the assisted hamlets in the following years can be implemented better, the concept of the event is more mature, and the benefits obtained are also more numerous,” explained Alma.
