FKIP – The Mathematics Education Study Program (HMP) Student Association (Himmadika) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held its 2nd online study via Zoom Cloud Meeting on Saturday (11/13/2021).
This event carried the theme “The Virtue of Seeking Knowledge in Islam”. The event was hosted by Salma Fadila Al-Azhar with the moderator Afrimafiska Septian Da Silva. The speaker presented were Dr. Triyanto, S.Si, M.Sc. as the Head of the Mathematics Education Study Program (Kaprodi) FKIP UNS.
Dr. Triyanto started the study by presenting the existing conditions.
“Life is a choice and every choice has a consequence but what often happens, the results are not as expected. This is our concern,” said Dr. Triyanto by presenting relevant examples.
Therefore, Dr. Triyanto gives motivation that failure is not the beginning of despair, but the beginning of success. According to him, if it fails then try again, fail to try again, if it fails again arrange a new method.


Furthermore, Dr. Triyanto said that there are three things that people will prepare for the afterlife so they don’t lose, namely being the right person, doing the right thing, and inviting them to the truth.
“Be a righteous person, that is, a believer. Do what is right, which is good deeds. Then, we invite in the truth by preaching, “explained Dr. Triyanto.
Then, Dr. Triyanto explained that the main ticket to the afterlife is knowledge.
“Faith is very volatile and is determined by our position. So, faith needs to be recharged, one of which is knowledge. In Islam, faith must be confirmed. With knowledge, faith is strengthened. The proof of faith is put into practice and everything is perfected with sincerity,” explained Dr. Triyanto.
Dr. Triyanto explained the law of seeking knowledge, seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim. Followed by the position of knowledge in Islam.
The presentation from Dr. Triyanto ended by showing one of the hadiths narrated by At-Tirmidhi.
“When you walk through the gardens of Paradise, do more dhikr. The companions asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what are the gardens of paradise?’ The Prophet replied, ‘That is halaqah-halaqah remembrance (assessment of knowledge)’,” he explained.
The activity ended with a discussion and question and answer session.
