FKIP – Students of the Office Administration Education Study Program (PAP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta succeeded in making UNS proud at the national level. Students named Muhammad Hilmi Sahitul Azmi, Mahendra Arya Wisnu, and Rahma Riyani won 2nd place in the Information Technology-Based Learning Media Competition organized by the Student Association for Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). All three are members of the Arunika team.
This competition activity was carried out in an effort to answer the challenges of education in the midst of a pandemic. The development of information technology-based learning media is one of the efforts to advance Indonesian education and students have a responsibility to take a role in this development.
This competition was participated by various teams from various universities. Team participants must follow various stages in this competition, including registration, making learning media, and announcements. For the manufacture of learning media, participants were also asked to make a manual for the use of learning media, and make video presentations about the learning media that were made.
In this competition, the Arunika UNS team created a learning media entitled Fun Game-Based Learning “Go to Your Post” (Pandemic Version) based on child-friendly information technology. Muhammad Hilmi Sahitul Azmi, head of the Arunika team, explained that this learning media was inspired by postal game activities that are commonly used in scouting activities.
“The creation of this learning media was inspired by a children’s game model, namely a game using posts that are commonly used in Scouting activities. In the game that we made, there is also material in each post and there is an objective test that is used as a condition to be able to enter the next post,” explained Hilmi, in an interview on Sunday (11/28/2021).
Himi added that the background for making this game was that the teaching methods in elementary schools were generally only lectures and using presentations.
“The development of this media is motivated by the teaching situation in elementary schools which generally only uses lectures and PPT. We realize that the characteristics of children are still happy with playing, so we designed learning media that seem to play, which actually has a learning process in it, “continued Hilmi.
Hilmi continued by conveying his hopes and plans for the future.
“Hopefully, this media can be used by many people and this media can be developed continuously in the future. Hopefully, our achievements can be a motivation for friends and juniors to want to take part in activities or be motivated to take part in competitions,” said Hilmi.
