FKIP – Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta presented linguistic experts in a series of practical lecture activities in September – October 2021. This practitioner lecture presents national-level linguistic practitioners, namely Ivan Razela Lanin as Director of Narabahasa, Sara Neyrhiza as Founder of SPEAKING.id, and senior journalists from Tribun News.
This practitioner lecture activity was one of the activities carried out in the context of leapfrogging the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of study programs (Prodi) and also universities. This activity aims to introduce the world of the digital industry to PBSI Study Program students. In addition, this practitioner’s lecture also aims to bring the industrial world closer to the campus world.
This practitioner lecture activity began with a public lecture on Tuesday (21/9/2021). The activity was continued with practitioner lectures in their respective classes according to the interests taken. There are three specializations in this practitioner course, namely editing, broadcasting, and journalism. The editing specialization class was filled with Ivan Lanin, an Indonesian language activist. The broadcasting class presented Sara Neyrhiza, a public speech activist, and the journalism class presented journalists and senior editors of Tribun News, namely Aji Bramasta, Yudie Thirzano, Suut Amdani, and Krisna Sumargo.
The practitioners’ lectures which were held in several meetings were well received by the students. Firman Fajar Wiguna, a student of the PBSI Study Program who attended this practitioner’s lecture, thought that this lecture could increase his enthusiasm, motivation, and knowledge well.
“I feel more motivated in lectures because the material presented is based on the experiences of existing mentors. Then, giving assignments followed by joint evaluations made me know better which part was right and which part was wrong,” said Firman, in a written interview.
In addition, the word also shared his feelings and experiences following this practitioner’s lecture.
“The feeling of attending lectures with the Tribun made me know more about the real world of journalism, and made me gain new knowledge from extraordinary journalistic activists or practitioners,” continued Firman.
Firman also expressed hope in the future for the implementation of this practitioner’s lecture.
“Hopefully in the future, the implementation of practitioner lectures like this will continue to exist in every generation. The implementation of this program will open students’ views about the real world of work,” said Firman.
