FKIP – Ministry of Media and Communication Student Executive Board (BEM) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education( FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a second media class.

The event was opened with remarks by Alqis Bahnan as the President of BEM FKIP UNS. In his speech, Alqis conveyed the purpose of holding this media class.

“When we talk about digitization, what we remember is the development of technology. Are we ready? Of course, this readiness must be based on and equipped with spaces that can actualize what we have in a class. This media class was created so that we can increase our knowledge, soft skills, and confidence regarding the urgency of digitization and how we should respond to it,” explained Alqis.

The activity was continued with a material presentation by the speaker, Firman Adiyuda, students of Informatics and Computer Engineering Education (PTIK), and IT and multimedia enthusiasts. Firman started the presentation by discussing the meaning of the video.

“Video is a collection of moving images that are combined into one unit. Usually when outsiders call it a moving picture,” said Firman.

Furthermore, Firman conveyed the difference between videography and cinematography. Videography emphasizes shooting concepts and techniques, using these elements as the basis for forming stories. While cinematography has the main focus on visual elements. How the play of images, colors, and even light can affect the emotions of the audience.

“The videographer operates the camera, does the editing process, and can work alone. Meanwhile, the cinematographer thinks about the visual elements that will be displayed on the screen and makes a large-scale production,” said Firman.

Then, Firman explained the visual elements found in cinematography, but these elements are also used in videography.

“There are a lot of visual elements to understand. There is a shape, shot size, angle, movement, lighting, exposure, color, and composition,” said Firman.

Furthermore, Firman explains each of the available visual elements and their use in videography. In addition, Firman gave examples of its use to media class participants.

The event continued with a question and answer session and ended with session documentation.
