FKIP – Center for Studies Diffability (PSD) Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Faculty of Teacher Training and Science Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta and the Association of Indonesian Special Education Professionals (APPKhI) held the 2021 annual National Seminar and Scientific Meeting online through Zoom Meetings and offline at the Grand HAP Hotel Surakarta on Saturday (23/10/2021).

The activity was opened with remarks from the General Chairperson of the central APPKhImanagement as well as the Head of LPPM UNS PSD, Prof. Dr. Munawir Yusuf, M.Psi. In his speech, Prof. Munawir hopes that the seminar activities can be sustainable and bring benefits.

The seminar had the theme “Fulfillment of the Right to Quality Education for Individuals with Special Needs through Freedom of Learning”. Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, M. Hum. was the main speaker followed by nine other speakers, namely Mukhlis, ST, Dr. Yaswardi, M.Sc., Dr. Praptono, M.Ed., Dr. Ir. Katmoko Ari Sambodo, M.Eng., Angkie Yudistia, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., MA, Prof. Dr. Endang Rohyadi, M.Pd., Prof. Dr. Ibnu Samsi, M.Pd., and Drs. Agus Mulyawan, M.Sc.

Prof. Jamal delivered the material “UNS Towards an Inclusive Disability Friendly Campus”.

“For UNS, an inclusive campus is a comfortable, safe, and quiet campus for all parties to learn,” said Prof. Jamal.

The first session was moderated by Dr. Subagya, M.Si. Dr. Ir. Katmoko Ari Sambodo, M.Eng. as Plt. The Deputy for Planning and Procurement of Human Resources (HR) Apparatus discussed “The Existence of Special Education Teachers (GPK) in Inclusive Education Providing Schools, Opportunities, and Challenges”. Mukhlis, ST as Associate Expert Planner of the Directorate of Community Education and Special Education (PMPK) of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia discussed “Policies and Programs of the directorate PMPK in the Framework of Fulfilling the Right to Quality Education for Individuals with Special Needs through Free Learning”. Dr. Yaswardi, M.Si as Director of GTK Dikmensus Kemendikbudristek RI discussed “Policies and Programs of the Directorate of GTK Dikmensus in the Framework of Fulfilling Teachers and Special Education Personnel in Indonesia”.

The second session was moderated by Dr. Joko Yuwono, M.Pd. Dr. Praptono, M.Ed. as Director of P3GTK Kemendikbudristek RI conveyed the program “Policies and Programs of the P3GTK Directorate in the Framework of Fulfilling SpecialTeachers Professional Education in Indonesia”. Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., MA as the expert Council APPKhI discussed “Expanding Access and Quality of Education for Individuals with Special Needs through Strengthening Central and Regional Institutions”. The last session was moderated by Grahita Kusumastuti, M.Pd. The first resource person, Prof. Dr. Endang Rohyadi, M.Pd. regarding “Strengthening Scientific and Professionalism of Graduates of LPTK PLB in Indonesia through Independent Learning”. Prof. Dr. Ibn Samsi, M.Pd. concerning “Strengthening Entrepreneurship Programs for Individuals with Special Needs”. Drs. Agus Mulyawan, M.Pd. on “Realizing Special Schools and Inclusive Schools as Driving Schools”.
