FKIP – The Natural Sciences Education Student Association (Himadikpa) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a science activity Share Our Love to Another (ISOTON) 2021 in Pojok Village, Mojogedang, Karanganyar. The activity was held from Saturday (20/11/2021) to Sunday (12/12/2021), by implementing health protocols.
ISOTON 2021 was carried out with the intention of fostering a sense of care and empathy for students of the Science Education Study Program, especially concerned for children and the people of the Corner Village in improving literacy skills in the community. To realize this goal, Himadikpa held four series of activities in the 2021 ISOTON activities.
The first activity was library administration training aimed at the Youth Organizations in Pojok Village and Kindergarten Teachers (TK) 2 Pojok in order to reactivate the Pojok Village library after five years of not being used. This activity presented speaker, namely Bachrul Ilmi, S.Ptk., M.Hum. as a D-3 lecturer at the UNS Library Study Program. The event was held on Saturday (20/11/2021).
The second activity was a socialization activity with the theme “The Fun of Reading Together” which is aimed at 5th and 6th graders at the State Elementary School (SDN) 3 Corner. This activity presented speaker, namely Dr. Arif Setyawan, S. Hum., M.Pd. as a lecturer in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, FKIP UNS. The event was held on Saturday (27/11/2021).
Furthermore, the third activity was the second session of library administration training with the same participants and speaker. This activity was held on Thursday (9/12/2021). Then, the 2021 ISOTON activity was closed with the launch of the Pojok Village Reading Corner library which was held on Sunday (12/12/2021) as a form of inauguration of the reopening of the village library.
Risa Qotrunnada, Chair of the ISOTON 2021 Committee, hopes that this activity can motivate her fellow committee members to improve literacy skills in her village community. Risa also hopes that this activity can improve community literacy in Pojok Village, Mojogedang.
“I hope that after the ISOTON activity is carried out, the committee members can contribute to their village in order to improve literacy skills. My hope is for the people of Pojok Village, hopefully in the future they will become people who are intellectual and have a high interest in reading books by utilizing the village library facilities,” hope Risa via WhatsApp message on Wednesday (12/22/2021).
