With the theme “Knowing the World of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) for Graduates with a Bachelor of Education,” this activity is intended to introduce PPG education to education students. This activity is also directed to answer student questions related to Teacher Professional Education.

The resource persons for this activity were the Head of the Chemical Education S-1 Study Program as well as the Coordinator of PPG Chemistry FKIP UNS, Dr. rer.nat. Sri Mulyani, M.Sc. He started his explanation by explaining the background of PPG implementation.

“The implementation of PPG is based on the stipulation of RI Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning National Education System, followed by RI Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers, and RI Ministerial Regulation No. 19 of 2005 concerning National Education Standards. This determination makes teachers required to have academic qualifications, competencies, educational certificates, physically and mentally healthy, and can realize national education goals. This qualification will be obtained through the PPG program,” explained Mulyani.

He added an explanation of the Pre-service PPG and in-service PPG programs.

“The PPG program can be taken in two schemes, firstly the Pre-service PPG, which is a program that is carried out directly after students have completed their undergraduate education. Meanwhile, PPG in the office is taken when someone has become a teacher or has taught in schools with a minimum teaching time of five years, “explained Mulyani.

Mulyani also added the PPG registration flow.

“Registration for the PPG program is carried out at the PPG Education provider study program under the coordination of FKIP. The results of the selection are then reported to the Director-General of Higher Education to obtain a registration number,” added Mulyani

Mulyani, who also explained the curriculum model applied to teacher professional education (PPG).
“The PPG learning system uses a block model which is divided into two, namely one semester of education on campus and one semester at school (PPL). Learning in PPG includes SSP workshops, micro, and macro teaching, PPL, reflection, and Competency Tests,” he continued.

He also described the profile of the expected graduates of the PPG study program.

“Prodi PPG graduates are professional teachers who master teaching materials, have Indonesian character and personality, inspire and set an example, have a charming appearance, are authoritative, firm, sincere, and disciplined, who can educate, teach, guide, direct, train, assess, and evaluate students according to the demands of the latest and future information and communication technology developments,” concluded Mulyani.
