FKIP – Students S-2 Indonesian Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta managed to win a national level competition, which was to become 3rd place in the Poetry Writing Competition organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Warmadewa Bali. The student who won this competition was on behalf of Eko Setyawan.

This activity was held in the framework of the 37th Anniversary of the Family Body of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Warmadewa University. The activity, called the Jayastamba National Poetry Competition, was attended by hundreds of participants from all over Indonesia.

This stage of the competition includes registration, submission of manuscripts, judging, and announcements. Announced on Wednesday (29/12/2021), Eko managed to win in this competition. In this competition, Eko wrote a poem entitled “Rekuiem Because of Batara Surya, his father.” Eko explained that the poem he wrote explains and interprets the turmoil of the puppet character, namely the character Karna.

Eko explained that his poem contains the meaning of interpreting the shackles of hegemony in the puppet character, namely the character of Karna.

“The meaning contained in this poem is trying to interpret the shackles of hegemony in the wayang character who is being sued by one of the characters, namely Karna,” explained Eko, when contacted by the fkip.uns.ac.id team, on Friday (12/31/2021).

Eko also added that the expected benefit of this poem is about a review from another point of view about the wayang story.

“The expected benefit is knowledge of other perspectives in understanding wayang stories,” continued Eko.

Eko also expressed his feeling about winning this competition.

“It’s very exciting because this competition is held by one of the universities in Bali and carries poetry about hegemony. A little scary and calculating,” said Eko.

At the end of the interview, Eko also conveyed his plans.

“The plan is to continue writing and will publish books, both poetry and short stories,” concluded Eko.
