FKIP – Study Program Student Association (HMP)Physics Education Grafitasi Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sciences (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a social service which was held at the Rumah Lentera on Saturday (4/12/2021). This activity involved 15 committee members from students and 37 children from Rumah Lentera.

The activity was chaired by 2019 Physics Education student, Artiwi Indah Kusuma, Artiwi explained that this activity was carried out to grow a sense of caring for others.

“This activity is carried out to foster a sense of care and empathy for Physics Education students, especially concern for the children at the Rumah Lentera,” explained Artiwi in his interview.

Artiwi also explained that the selection of the Rumah Lantern Orphanage for social service activities was based on the fact that this orphanage takes care of children affected by HIV/AIDS, so it is felt that this activity will greatly help the children in the orphanage.

“The choice of the Rumah Lentera is because it has not received enough attention, especially since this place is devoted to children living with HIV/AIDS so that people generally do not dare to visit this place,” continued Artiwi.

Activities carried out include play activities with the Lantern House children, entertainment activities, social services, distribution of necessities, provisions of medical equipment, such as masks, hand sanitizers, and other necessities such as soap and shampoo.

The source of funding for this activity is obtained from fundraising conducted by students. Starting from November 15, 2021, to December 3, 2021, a donation of approximately 3 million rupiahs has been collected. The open donations are intended for the general public who want to help and participate in this activity.

Artiwi also shared the impression he got during this activity.

“Alhamdulillah, this activity can foster a sense of caring and grow gratitude for what I have,” explained Artiwi.

At the end of the interview, Artiwi expressed his hope.

“Hope for the Lentera House child, keep the spirit! Then, for the community, I hope people understand more about HIV/AIDS. My message is to stay away from the disease, not the people,” said Artiwi.
