FKIP – Student Association of Building Engineering Education Study Program (Himapensil) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held community service activities (PKM) in the form of social service activities at the Darul Falah Orphanage, Sukoharjo. This activity was held on Saturday (11/12/2021) by implementing health protocols.

The social service carried out by Himapensil FKIP UNS has the aim of increasing the awareness of students of the Building Engineering Education Study Program (PTB) for the surrounding community in need, especially for children at the Darul Falah Orphanage.

The activity opened with a game that had been designed by the committee. Meanwhile, the games are marbles racing, guessing words, and painting. The children at the Darul Falah Orphanage were very enthusiastic about the game.

Next is the activity of planting vegetables, such as tomatoes, chilies, and eggplants. This vegetable planting activity is carried out by utilizing used goods in the form of used bottles as planting media or pots. It aims to train the creativity of children at the Darul Falah Orphanage in using used goods.

The activity was closed by providing education on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and a healthy lifestyle to children at the Darul Falah Orphanage.

Muhammad Strong Mulyanto as chairman of the PKM Himapensil FKIP UNS committee hopes that with this activity the committee and students of the PTB FKIP UNS Study Program can increase their social awareness. That is, they have an awareness that there are communities around them that need attention and a helping hand from them.

“I hope that by holding community service activities in the form of social services, it can increase the awareness of the committee and PTB FKIP UNS students towards the surrounding environment. They become aware that around them there are people who need attention and a helping hand from them,” Muhammad hoped via WhatsApp voice message on Friday (12/24/2021).

Muhammad also hopes that this activity can motivate FKIP students and the general public to increase social awareness. In this way, more people will be helped.

“I also hope that this activity can motivate FKIP UNS students and the community, in general, to carry out similar social activities. By doing this or increasing their social awareness, more people will be helped,” added Muhammad.
