FKIP – Tino Widya Wisudawan, Student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta was inaugurated as one of the Surakarta Youth Dalang by the Surakarta Culture Service on Tuesday (1/01). 12/2021).

The Surakarta Youth Dalang is an organization that was inaugurated on 21 December 2021 but, long before it was inaugurated, the Surakarta Youth Dalang had been formed since June 2021. The inauguration activities were carried out offline at Pendhapi Gedhe Surakarta City Hall and broadcast live through the Youtube channel of the Surakarta Culture Service Darma Suta Punakawan .

A total of 21 teenage puppeteers were inaugurated at the event. In addition to the inauguration, there was also a wayang performance with the play “Witing Sang Plenary”.

Tino, told the reason why he was interested in the world of puppetry. He said he had liked wayang since he was four years old.

“The reason I like wayang, especially the dalang is that I have liked wayang since I was little. So, the first time I was interested in artistic culture from childhood, from the age of four I was interested in wayang and I joined the Mangkunegaran Studio when I was in fourth grade from elementary to middle school,” said Tino when met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Monday (12/27/2021).

Then, Tino explained his journey until he was confirmed as one of the puppeteers of Surakarta youth.

“In June, the young puppeteers were gathered by the service and then a monthly puppet event was made by the Surakarta Culture Service. Then, we made several programs other than the puppet program, namely making videos that are uploaded on Youtube Dalang Pemuda Surakarta and holding ketoprak performances,” Tino explained.

Tino said that he had the full support of his family.

“Support. All members of the Surakarta Youth Dalang are supported by each family member because it is a positive activity, namely art where we uphold the spirit of young people to welcome the world of wayang, especially puppetry,” said Tino.

At the end of the interview, Tino expressed hope for himself who is a member of the Surakarta Youth Dalang.

“Hopefully, the Surakarta Youth Dalang is more advanced, ngrembaka hanjayeng bawana, and can carry out the mandate, especially from the Surakarta City Government and can be an example for other associations. Hopefully, there will be support and support from related parties such as the City Government and the Culture Service,” said Tino.
