FKIP – Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) are victorious in the annual Parab Kawi event organized by the Wibawa Study Program Student Association (HMP), Javanese Language Education Study Program, FKIP UNS. This activity which was held on Sunday – Friday (21 – 26/11/2021) was the third time it was held by HMP Wibawa.

This competition was held with the aim of preserving Javanese culture and a means of channeling the interests and talents of students and students. This activity is also an effort to make Javanese language and culture exist among the younger generation.

Parab Kawi #3 activity takes place in several stages, namely registration, technical meeting, collection of works, judging, and announcements. On the day of the announcement, a series of FKIP UNS students managed to win a championship in this event. The student, on behalf of Ratna Wijayanti (Javanese Language Education/2019), won 1st Place in the Javanese Calligraphy Competition, Faida Inayati (Javanese Language Education/2019) won 2nd Place in the Javanese Geguritan Creation Contest, Wahyu Rintoko Aji (Javanese Language Education/2019) won 2nd place in the Essay Competition, Nanda Sari Kusuma (Javanese Language Education/2019) won 3rd place in the Javanese Script Calligraphy Competition, and Wisnu Firmansyah (Javanese Language Education/2019) won 3rd Place in Parab Kawi Essay Competition #3 2021.

Ratna Wijayanti, the winner 1 Java Calligraphy Competition, said that this competition was very fun. In addition, Ratna also said that with this competition, she hoped that people would not underestimate Javanese culture.

“Hopefully the Javanese people do not underestimate local culture which in essence has noble values ​​in life,” explained Ratna in an interview with the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Monday (31/01/2022).

Winner of 2 Cipta Geguritan, Faida Inayati, added that with this activity, it is hoped that Javanese culture will remain sustainable and the participation of the younger generation in preserving Javanese culture will be better.

“Hopefully, through these competitions and webinars, Javanese culture will continue to be sustainable. Moreover, in some circles, Javanese culture has faded, so the introduction and preservation of Javanese culture, such as geguritan, essays, calligraphy is very important. In addition, students and students must also actively participate in preserving Javanese culture,” continued Faida.

At the end presentation, the Parab Kawi activity is expected to be able to bring out the Javanese language and culture for the younger generation.
