FKIP – Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebela Maret University (UNS) Surakarta have the opportunity to study abroad through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program.
The six students are Siti Nur Rahmawati from Physics Education who had the opportunity to study at the University of Padua, Alysa Nur Chasanah Alam Majid from Biology Education who had the opportunity to study at Daugavpils University, Penta Kusuma Dewi from English Language Education who had the opportunity to study at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Muliawan Prasetya Utama, Zahira Fala Yusuf, and Elys Putri Kharismawati from English Education who had the opportunity to study at Palacky University Olomouc.
Before being accepted, they must go through several stages of selection, including file selection, writing an essay or motivation letter, and interview.
Elys, one of the students accepted at Palacky University Olomouc said he left on October 1, 2021, and returned on January 22, 2022.
When met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Thursday (6/1/2022), Ely thought that he joined the IISMA program and chose Palacky University Olomouc, The Czech Republic.
“The reason for joining the IISMA program is because I want to have an international experience academically, experience cross-cultural experiences firsthand, and hone linguistics. In addition, the reason I chose Palacky University Olomouc, The Czech Republic is because it is one of the universities in Europe with a field of study that is offered according to interest,” explained Elys.
Elys also conveyed the impression he received when he passed the IISMA program.
“Getting the opportunity to study abroad has mixed feelings. grateful, happy, and surprised because they have been waiting for months to come out. Sometimes there is a feeling that I still don’t believe it, when I was a child I dreamed of visiting a specific city, its name is Prague/Prague, which is the capital of the Czech Republic where I studied,” said Elys.
In the end, Ely shared his experiences during his education at Palacky University Olomouc.
“How to teach lecturers and new assessment methods, feel privileged as a student in the Czech Republic, meet new, diverse people, learn to adapt to a new daily environment, travel, career development opportunities, discipline, learn to apply English as an international language,” he concluded.
