FKIP – Deputy Dean of Division 3, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University Eleven March (UNS) Surakarta held a FKIP Cooperation Workshop with the Business World and Alumni on Thursday (23/12/2021). Apart from being held offline at the FKIP building, this workshop is also held online through Zoom Meetings.

This workshop presented resource person Dr. Djono as Deputy Dean of Planning, Business Cooperation, and Information, Ir. Abdullah Suwarno as chairman of the PHRI of Surakarta, and Farid Sunarto as alumni of FKIP UNS. The event moderated by Ferri Setyo Wibowo was also attended by invitations from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Surakarta, the Head of Study Programs throughout FKIP UNS, Alumni of FKIP UNS in the field of entrepreneurship, SMEs, and the UNS FKIP association.

In his speech, Dr. Djono said that this activity was aimed at establishing and pioneering cooperation in the business world with hoteliers and alumni, especially in Surakarta. In addition, the collaboration also aims to empower alumni, as well as cooperate in implementing the MBKM government program.

“Establishing and pioneering the main collaboration from PHRI and alumni, because after becoming a legal entity university since October 2020, UNS has the opportunity to cooperate with the business world, both in implementing the MBKM government program and to establish cooperation in gaining additional income for UNS with the world. the effort,” said Djono.

Then in his presentation, Dr. Djono conveyed the potential for cooperation from FKIP UNS. The potential for collaboration at FKIP UNS is in the form of student activities that can be carried out outside the campus or the MBKM program. The programs MBKM include internships/practices work, village projects, teaching in schools, student exchanges, research/research, entrepreneurial activities, independent studies/projects, and humanitarian projects.

“The main collaboration is to carry out the ministerial program, namely MBKM, in principle MBKM gives students the freedom to develop themselves according to their potential so that it does not have to be only in their scientific profession but can develop the potentials that exist in students,”

Dr. Djono explained that the cooperation was divided into cooperation to support MBKM and cooperation based on income-generating. Cooperation supports MBKM, namely with institutions and the business world, while based on income-generating by optimizing the infrastructure of FKIP and UNS for productive businesses, such as workshops, welding, homestays, canteens, and so on.

Farid Sunarto as Deputy Head of Organization and Institutional Relations of the Surakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) explained how to establish cooperation with the business and industry world (DUDI), especially for students. According to him, students have 3M capital, namely mastering multimedia, multi-platform, and multitasking.

“How can we string up this collaboration, but from the business world and industry we can take advantage of the potential of students. I believe UNS students have a 3M capacity at the same time, different from us (the old generation),” explained Farid.

Furthermore, MSU Adjie as the speaker representing the IHRA Surakarta said that the cooperation not just gives students internship opportunities, but also be able to creates value for the hotel. Therefore, the placement of internships is adjusted to the discipline of work needs.

“Students do an internship for one semester, then it is mutualism, of course, the hotel in the existence of this internship is not just an internship but how students can create value for the hotel,” he said.

Adji hopes that this workshop can produce an agreement which is a step to support government programs and the UNS program.

“Of course, we hope to produce an MOU which at least, in general, is not something absolute. What will happen later when the derivative of the MOU with PHRI becomes a good step so that the government and UNS programs can run well, “he concluded.
