FKIP – Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta students succeeded in making their alma mater proud at the national level, a student from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and his two friends won 3rd place in the Business Plan Competition organized by the Ministry of Creative Economy Executive Board Students (BEM) Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Brawijaya (UB). Meanwhile, the students who won the competition were Mahmud Wahyudi from the Arabic Literature Study Program, Arlita Andriani from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, and Dahriyanti from the Agribusiness Study Program.

This online competition carried the theme “Optimizing the Role of Gen Z in Facing the Challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Towards the Society 5.0 Era”. This activity was an annual event held by BEM FH UB. In this competition, the team, chaired by Mahmud, presented a business plan entitled “Optimizing the Use of Social-Based Applications.”

Arlita, a member of the competition team, explained that the background of this idea was based on the relationship between students which was still lacking and needed to be improved.

“The background for optimizing social-based business design is to see the relationship between students which is still lacking. We see the need for media that can unite students so as to create social interaction between the two through social-based applications. The goal is to build relationships, share knowledge, and open up space for knowledge,” explained Arlita, in an interview with the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Friday (28/01/2022).

The competition goes through several stages, including registration, abstract submission, the announcement of the abstract pass, collection of full papers, and announcement of winners.

“The competition process for this event begins with registration and abstract submission. At this stage, we did not expect our proposal to pass the abstract stage. We were pessimistic about the title of the proposal we made, but one of our friends, Mahmud, said if just finish what we started, after all, if you pass, consider it a bonus,” explained Arlita.

Arlita continued by explaining the process of the next stage of the competition.

“The next stage, we collect a complete proposal to be presented on October 25, 2021. After the presentation, we were not confident with the result, but in the end we qualified to become the 3rd winner of this business plan competition,” continued Arlita.

At the end of the interview, Arlita conveyed her impression of winning this competition and her hopes for the future.

“The impression was unexpected because the team’s preparation was felt to be lacking and suddenly, Alhamdulillah, sustenance for third place. Hopefully in the future, more achievements will be obtained, maybe from a fad as a place to get achievements,” concluded Arlita.
