FKIP – Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University(UNS) Surakarta once again showed their concern for people with disabilities. This form of concern was shown by Naufal Allam Gumelar, Maulana Danar Maaliki, Ryan Anggara, and Aprilia Rizki Arifah from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) and Yoga Pradana from the Extraordinary Education Study Program (PLB) by establishing a community called “Ruang Indonesia Bercerita”.
Ruang Indonesia Bercerira (RIB) itself is a literacy community that has been active since February (2021) to accommodate the talents, aspirations, and expressions of children with special needs (ABK) in Indonesia. In addition, they are also a forum that provides education to the general public about the lives of crew members.
When contacted by the UNS FKIP Journalist Team on Tuesday (22/2/2022), Naufal Allam Gumelar as the Founder and General Chair of RIB said that the establishment of this community reflected one of the annual events of the PBSI FKIP UNS Study Program.
“The birth of the RIB is a reflection of the Language and Literature Week (PBS) which is an annual event of the PBSI FKIP UNS Study Program. Where we feel that the event has not yet embraced friends with disabilities. with special needs so that they can channel their interests and talents through literacy-based competitions,” said Naufal.
Furthermore, Naufal also explained what content was raised and what activities were carried out in the RIB Community.
“Essentially, we display the interests and talents of ABK on our social media accounts. In addition, we also raise content that invites the general public to get to know the lives of ABK. We illustrate that they can also do things that normal humans do. make peace with the situation, so don’t take it lightly,” explained Naufal. Naufal hopes that the RIB community can provide benefits for all persons with disabilities where they feel they have the space to tell stories and express themselves. Naufal also hopes that the existence of this RIB can open up people’s perspectives that crew members also have the same rights and opportunities as humans in general.
At the end of the interview session, Naufal asked to do good, especially in the realm of inclusion, both from himself and with the RIB community.
“For friends who want to do good, let’s do it from ourselves. If it’s hard to walk alone, it’s okay to walk with our community, especially in the realm of inclusion. The small things we give must have a big impact on those we give,” Naufal said. (Public Relations)
