FKIP – Falista Kusuma Ayu, a student of the 2020 Java Language Education Study Program (PBJ) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won 2nd place in the Selection of Putri Lawu Tourism Ambassador for Karanganyar Regency.

This election activity held on August 24 – September 4, 2021 offline at the Sumberbulu Tourism Village, Mojogedang District, Karanganyar Regency. The election of Putra and Putri Lawu as Karanganyar Tourism Ambassadors itself is an annual routine activity held in the framework of the anniversary of Karanganyar Regency. This election was held by the Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports (Disparpora) Karanganyar Regency.

This election was attended by 75 participants. All participants took part in the selection in the form of written tests and interviews. After that, the top 20 finalists were selected in the form of ten men and ten women who advanced to the grand final round. In the grand final round, Falista was announced as the 2nd winner of Putri Lawu Duta Wisata Karanganyar. Falista explained that the reason for participating in this event was to introduce the tourism potential of Karanganyar Regency. In addition, Falista wants to introduce the cultural wealth of Karanganyar Regency.

“My motivation for participating in the election of Putra Lawu Tourism Ambassador for Karanganyar Regency in 2021 is because I want to invite the younger generation to be aware of the potential of Karanganyar Regency. Then, I would like to introduce the cultural values ​​contained in the history, customs, and traditions of the Karanganyar Regency. I want to socialize to the public, especially my generation (youth) about how beautiful and valuable tourism is in Karanganyar,” explained Falista to the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Saturday (26/02/2022).

Falista also explained her duties as Putri Lawu, the Karanganyar Tourism Ambassador.

“My duties as Putri Lawu, the Tourism Ambassador for Karanganyar Regency, are making tourism promotion videos, among state guests, making profile videos for Karanganyar Regency, making promotional videos for MSME products, and so on,” continued Falista.

Falista also explained that through this activity he hoped to help improve the economy of Karanganyar Regency which had slumped due to the closure of the tourism sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, Falista expressed his feeling of winning this election.

“I am very proud because at the age of 18, I can fight insecurity and, I dare to take another step forward to participate in the right event to express my talents and interests,” said Falista.

Falista ended the interview by conveying his hopes for the future.

“My hope is that in the future, I hope that it can give meaning to the community, especially regarding the culture, customs, and traditions that exist in Karanganyar. Hopefully, he can become a good public figure for the Karanganyar community,” he concluded.
