FKIP – The Javanese Language Education Study Program Student Association (HMP Wibawa) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an Art Degree #9 event on Saturday (19/2/2022). Held online, the event can be watched via a live broadcast on HMP Wibawa’s Youtube account.
Muhammad Iqbal Ramadhan as Chair of the HMP Wibawa FKIP UNS explained that the committee directly involved in Art Degree #9 had implemented health protocols. He also explained that the activities were carried out on campus to facilitate coordination with the campus, especially regarding the implementation of health protocols by the committee.
“Due to the pandemic, the implementation of the 9th Art Degree was different from the previous year. The activity was held virtually through our Youtube account. Especially for the committees who were directly involved, they were required to implement health protocols. In addition, activities were also held on campus to facilitate coordination with the campus, especially regarding the application of health protocols during the preparation process to the performance,” explained Iqbal.

In its 9th year of implementation, the HMP Wibawa Arts Degree staged the Mataraman Ketoprak entitled “Kabentus Drenging Driya”. The Ketoprak tells of the tactics of the King of the Mataram Kingdom, Panembahan Senopati in conquering the power of Ki Ageng Mangir Wanabaya.
The story begins when Panembahan Senopati asks his son, Rara Kinasih, to conquer Ki Ageng Mangir’s heart. After they got married, Rara Kinasih asked Ki Ageng Mangir to take her back to the Mataram Kingdom. Ki Ageng Mangir who had been deceived, decided to go to the Mataram Kingdom and had the desire to kill Panembahan Senopati but, in the end Ki Ageng Mangir died when he worshiped Panembahan Senopati in Watugilang.
At the end of the interview, Iqbal expressed his hopes for the implementation of the #9 Art Degree.
“I hope that the implementation of this 9th Art Degree can provide a view that the Javanese Language Education Study Program FKIP UNS also takes part in developing student resources, especially in the arts and preserving Javanese culture or Javanese culture. understand that there are still young people who like culture, so Javanese culture must be preserved for future generations,” Iqbal hoped.
