FKIP – Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta successfully won 2nd place in the Women’s General Category in Java and Bali Orienteering Competition in the Bumi Bung Karno Orienteering Competition event. She is Arni Afineti Indah Putri from the Fine Arts Education Study Program (PSR).

Bumi Bung Karno Orienteering Competition 2022 will be held in Karangrejo Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency, East Java. The event was held by the East Java Indonesian National Orienteering Federation (FONI) on Saturday-Sunday (19-20/3/2022). Meanwhile, the foot orienteering categories that are contested are male students, female students, general male, and female students. Participants are required to navigate using a map and compass. So, they had to visit the designated point on the map as quickly as possible.

When contacted by the UNS FKIP Journalist Team, Thursday (24/3/2022), Indah told me that she first got to know the world of orienteering. He explained that he got to know the world of orienteering when he joined the Brahmahardhika nature lover organization FKIP UNS.

“My first introduction to the world of orienteering began when I joined a faculty-level nature lover organization, Mapala Brahmahardhika. Brahmahardhika is known as the most consistent organizer of orienteering activities in Indonesia, from there I was interested in learning about orienteering,” explained Indah.

According to Indah, orientering is a unique sport. This sport combines the speed of running and thinking. This means that this sport can always make you curious, especially about how to complete a course quickly and accurately.

Previously, Indah had won in national-level orienteering competitions. The champions that Indah has won are 3rd place in the 2019 Factpala Orienteering Contest and 1st Place in Bawana Orienteering Competition 2020.

At the end of the interview session, Indah advised me to be brave to learn and try new things even though it was not linear with college majors because the process would not betray the results.

“Don’t be afraid to learn or try new things that may not be in line with your college major, as long as it’s positive and there is an opportunity to follow and enjoy the process. The process will not betray the results,” Indah said.
