FKIP – Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program (PTM) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Welcoming activity for New Students (Samaru) through the National Selection for Higher Education Entrance (SNMPTN) on Sunday (17/4/2022). With the theme “Get to Know New Students and the Campus World”, the activity was held online through the Zoom Meeting application.

This Samaru is the first work program carried out by the Student Association of the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program (Kompresi) FKIP UNS. Met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (26/4/2022), Ramanda Ridho Barokah as the General Chair of the FKIP UNS Kompresi said that this activity was aimed at welcoming new students on the SNMPTN pathway and giving them an overview of the campus world, especially in PTM FKIP UNS.

“This samaru activity or welcoming new students is one of the Compression work programs that aims to welcome new students PTM on the SNMPTN pathway in 2022. In addition to welcoming them, this activity was also carried out to provide an overview of lecture life and the world of campus, especially at PTM FKIP UNS, “explained Ramanda.

The activity was opened with an introductory session, both between new students and with PTM FKIP UNS lecturers and the Kompresi Management FKIP UNS. The activity continued with the presentation of material by the general chairman of the Kompresi, Ramanda. In his presentation, he explained campus life at the university, faculty, and PTM UNS study programs. After the presentation, the activity continued with a discussion session. In the session, new students were allowed to ask questions about campus life and the like.

Ramanda hopes that this activity can be a forum for getting to know each other the environment and the academic community at UNS. He also hopes that this activity will become a forum to motivate new students to become active and outstanding students.

“We hope that this Samaru activity will make new students, especially at PTM FKIP UNS, able to get to know each other and also get to know the campus world, especially in JPTK and PTM FKIP UNS. We also hope that with this activity, new students get an overview in lectures and are more motivated to become active students and excel in lectures and activities outside of lectures, “said Ramanda.

At the end of the interview session, Ramanda advised new students to keep their enthusiasm in the process and establish good relations between academics at UNS. He also advised new students to dare to find out what makes them extraordinary.

“Keep the spirit to process and establish friendship, kinship, and strong solidarity between students and academics at UNS later. Don’t be an ordinary student, but look for and find what can make you extraordinary, “said Ramanda
