FKIP – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Kebipaan Seminar V which is an International Seminar & Indonesian Culture Degree on Saturday (28/5/2022). Themed “Reflections on Indonesian Language Learning for Foreign Speakers in Five Continents”, the seminar was held online through the Zoom Meeting application and live broadcast on M Rohmadi Ratulisa’s YouTube account.
Having the opportunity to be the organizer of the activity, Bachelor Degree of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) FKIP UNS packaged seminars in 3 events. The three events were the Presentation of Kebipaan Materials, the Launching of the Book “About Indonesia” by Yale University Students, USA, and the Launching of the Javanese Culture-Based BIPA Textbook “Jateng Gayeng”.

In his remarks, UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, MS, said that this activity is an effort to internationalize the Indonesian language and make Indonesian the official language in ASEAN as well as an effort to support the existence of the PBSI FKIP UNS Study Program.
“To celebrate the 46th UNS Anniversary, the PBSI FKIP UNS Study Program has successfully presented the Indonesian Language Conference for Foreign Speakers or BIPA. This activity was held as an effort to internationalize the Indonesian language and make Indonesian the official language in ASEAN. This activity can also support the existence of the PBSI FKIP UNS Study Program which has obtained FIBAA international accreditation in 2022. I thank all parties involved in organizing this activity, “said Prof. Yunus
The activity continued with a speech from the Chief Executive of the 46th Anniversary, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., SpP(K). On the occasion, he said that this activity complemented the cultural aspects of the series of activities for the 46th UNS Anniversary.
“So far, many activities for the 46th UNS Anniversary have been held since January. Activities are very varied and most of them are related to science and technology which shows progress at UNS. Now, the culturally oriented Kebipaan Seminar V activity is very complementary to the series of birthdays in realizing UNS’s vision to become a center for science and technology and cultural arts, “said Prof. Reviono.

Furthermore, also gave a speech and opened the Kebipaan Seminar V, the Dean of FKIP UNS Dr. Mardiyana M, Si. He hopes that this activity can bring Indonesian into an international language.
“This Kebipaan Seminar is a routine activity that is carried out every year and this year is associated with a series of activities for the 46th UNS Anniversary. I hope that by carrying out activities like this, Indonesian will truly become an international language. By becoming an international language, of course, it will open a smooth network of cooperation, especially in the field of education, “said Dr. Mardiyana.
The event was continued with a Kebipaan Material Presentation which was divided into 2 sessions. Session 1 presented 2 resource persons, namely Prof. Yo Nonaka (Lecturer of Malay-Indonesian Languange Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus Tokyo, Japan) and Banit Svetlana Viktorovna (Lecturer of the Department of Philology of South-East Asia Countries, St. Pesterburg State University, Russia).
Then, the presentation of session 2 material also presented 2 speakers. The two resource persons were Mahmudin (Pensosbud, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Rabat, Morocco) and Indriyo K. Sukmono (Lecturer of Indonesian Language at Yale University USA and Coordinator of American and Canadian BIPA).
