FKIP – Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has won international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). This achievement was announced on Sunday (20/3/2022).

FIBAA is an internationally oriented European institution for quality assurance and quality development in higher education.

The head of the FIBAA accreditation team for the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, namely Dr. Kundharu Saddhono, S.S., M.Hum. said that the team had been formed since 2019.

“Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program is one of the study programs that has been accredited A four times, so it is hoped that universities will apply for international accreditation. It started in 2019 by forming a team and in 2020 getting a decree after the dean signed the commitment from the rector,” explained Dr. Kundharu when met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Wednesday (6/4/2022).

The activity continues until February 2021, starting by preparing a Self Assessment Report (SER) until July. In the middle of the process, there is a cluster division that requires the team to combine all forms.

“After the SER was completed, it turned out that the submission was not per study program, but cluster. There are two clusters, the first is Indonesian Language Education and Regional Literature, the second is Economics Education, the Faculty of Law, and State Administration, so we have to put the forms together,” said Dr. Kundharu.

Then, in August the accreditation team submitted and visited until it was announced on March 23.

From the process that has been passed and the results obtained, Dr. Kundharu conveyed plans for the future for the PBSI Study Program.

“Because it is internationally accredited, we become an international class study program. One of them is that we recruit students from abroad. We also bring in lecturers of international level. We have started from now on, by establishing cooperation with universities abroad. The relation with BIPA,” explained Dr. Kundharu.

For the achievements that have been achieved, the Head of the Study Program (Kaprodi) for Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Dr. Budhi Setiawan, M.Pd. provide feedback.

“I am happy that the hard work of the accreditation team for the Indonesian Language Study Program has succeeded in achieving the expected goals, namely the Internationally accredited Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program,” said Dr. Budhi.

At the end of the interview, Dr. Budhi expressed hope in the future after the PBSI Study Program was declared internationally accredited.

“With international accreditation, it is hoped that the PBSI Study Program can become the long arm of the Indonesian government to realize the mission of Indonesian to become a second language in ASEAN, even if it can become an international language. We also prepare international classes and improve the quality of PBSI Study Program educators to support learning for foreign speakers,” concluded Dr. Budhi.
