FKIP – Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a National Awakening Day Commemoration Ceremony on Friday (20/5/2022) at Campus IV FKIP UNS, Kleco, Surakarta.

Followed by Lecturers, Educational Staff, and Active Students of PGSD Surakarta, the ceremony was led directly by the Deputy Dean of HR, Finance, and Logistics of FKIP UNS, Dr. Dewi Kusuma Wardani, M.Sc. On this occasion, he conveyed the example of an education leader in Indonesia, RA Kartini. He also said that education is the main capital of national awakening.

“Kartini is one of the national heroes and pioneers of education in Indonesia. In Kartini, there are many examples that we can emulate, one of which is strong determination and unyielding in realizing the equality of women. Well, in this modern era, gender equality is marked by the number of women who are independent for national awakening. In national awakening, education is the main capital. Therefore, in the millennial era, we must be able to provide breakthroughs in the field of education and other fields, “said Dr. Dewi.

Contacted after the ceremony, Dr. Idam Ragil Widianto Atmojo, S.Pd., M.Sc. as the Head of the Surakarta PGSD Study Program said that in addition to commemorating the National Awakening Day and fostering patriotism, this activity was aimed at a forum for friendship and halal bi halal for the Surakarta PGSD Study Program.

Furthermore, Dr. Idam also explained the meaning of National Awakening Day for the world of education, especially for the Surakarta PGSD Study Program. He said that this momentum was interpreted as a spirit to make prospective elementary school teachers who have competence and professionalism in the 21st century.

“We interpret the national awakening as a spirit to become prospective elementary school teachers who have competence and professionalism in the 21st century. Therefore, these prospective elementary school teachers will have the readiness to become educators and prepare students for the 21st century,” said Dr. Dewi.

At the end of the interview session, Dr. Idam hopes that the spirit and values ​​of national awakening can raise the spirit of preparing education for Advanced Indonesia.

“Hopefully in the future, the spirit and values ​​of national awakening can be further interpreted by the entire academic community at UNS, especially the enthusiasm to prepare education for Advanced Indonesia,” hoped Dr. desire.
