The way to design a scientific poster to make it more impactful is to create a strong scientific framework and create an attractive design. Then, Yokanang explained the stages of designing a scientific poster, namely brainstorming, researching it, and designing it.

“The first stage of designing a scientific poster is brainstorming. You can search on the internet or anywhere. Second, research it! Friends can do research from studies. Next, you can start designing,” said Yokanang.

The presentation continues to discuss graphic design, which is a form of visual communication that uses elements and principles in delivering information or messages. Yokanang also explained the reasons why graphic design is important.

“Graphic design is important because in life it brings and forms a kind of new world in which we think, interact, and communicate in new ways. Second, whether we realize it or not, graphic design has succeeded in responding to the challenges of changing civilization and has succeeded in presenting a wide variety of educational information from various aspects,” explained Yokanang.

In the middle of the presentation, Prof. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Sc. as the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs greeted the audience with encouragement.

“Congratulations on your work, good luck. Good luck for the future!” said Prof. Slamet.

Then, Yokanang explained the important role of graphic design in the digital era, types of graphic design, design trends, bitmap vs vector, and graphic design applications including adobe photoshop, corel draw, adobe illustrator, inkscape, and canva.

After the presentation of the material, the activity continued with a demonstration of the use of the Corel Draw application, a question and answer s, session and ended with a closing statement from the resource person and joint documentation.

“Find your role models, find your opponents. Look for something that can ignite the spirit of competition in yourself. Need to be instilled in yourself, the main goal. Opponents are important because that will lead friends to an environment of achievement,” concluded Yokanang.
