FKIP – Community Service Team Research Group Law and Citizenship Study Program (Prodi) Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop and mentoring with the theme “Development of Educational Learning Media Human Rights Based on Animated Video for the Young Generation in the Digital Age at the Surakarta City Senior High School PPKn MGMP” on Monday (13/6/2022) offline at the Loji Hotel, Surakarta.

The PPKn FKIP UNS Study Program Service Team consists of three members. The three members are Lecturers of the PPKn FKIP UNS Study Program, namely Prof. Triyanto, S.H., M. Hum., Widya Noventari, S.Pd., M.Sc., and Yudi Ariana, S.H., M.H.

Moderated by Widya Noventari, S.Pd., M.Sc., this workshop presented three speakers. The first presentation was delivered by the first resource person, namely Prof. Dr. Triyanto, S.H., M. Hum. who is a Lecturer and Member of the Community Service Study Program FKIP UNS. In his presentation, he presented a material entitled “Concepts, Scope, and Limitations of Human Rights”_.

He explained the basic concepts of Human Rights (HAM), the definition of human rights according to the law (UU), elements of human rights, the relationship between citizens and citizenship, power and human rights, to the scope of human rights. According to him, human rights have a position to balance the position of the people and the state. He also explained about the three elements of human rights.

“Philosophically, the position of human rights aims to balance the position of the people and the state. Human rights have three main elements, namely they do not need to be given, apply to everyone and cannot be prohibited. In principle, humans still have human rights even though their country does not protect human rights, “explained Prof. Triyanto.

The second presentation was delivered by Widya Noventari, S.Pd., M.Sc. He is also a Lecturer and Member of the PPKn FKIP UNS Study Program Service Team. He brought the material entitled “Learning Media Selection Techniques”. In his presentation, he explained the classification of learning media, basic categories of learning media, theoretical reasons for choosing learning media, to media selection criteria.

Then, he also provides learning media products based on animated videos created through Canva and Microsoft Powerpoint. Widya explained that learning media that intersect with technology can increase students’ learning motivation.

“Currently, technology-based media is being loved by the younger generation. Based on several studies, it is also stated that learning media that intersect with technology can increase students’ learning motivation. Therefore, teachers must always follow and update their capacity in using technology for learning media in the classroom,” explained Widya.

The last presentation of the material was delivered by Lail Nur Fadhlika, S.Pd. He is a PPKn Teacher for Senior High School (SMA) 7 Surakarta. On this occasion, Lail provides a tutorial on using Canva as an application to create learning media. He also explains how to get Canva access to education.

There are three important points as a follow-up to this workshop. First, there will be assistance in developing online human rights learning media through WhatsApp groups and Zoom Meetings if needed. Furthermore, participants will be asked to make a learning video and the best three videos will be selected. Finally, all participants will get a certificate when they complete the learning media product.

After the presentation of the material, the activity continued with a question and answer session and ended with a joint documentation session.
