FKIP – Students of the Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won 3rd place in the 21-year-old Woman Category in the Dieng Orienteering Race. She is Fatimah Azzahro, a student who is part of the Brahmahardhika Student Activity Unit (UKM) FKIP UNS.
The Dieng Orienteering Race 2022 will be held in the Dieng Plateau, Wonosobo on Friday-Sunday (27-29/5/2022). The competition, which was organized by Main Outdoor, was held in an area that includes two regencies, namely Wonosobo and Banjarnegara, Central Java.
Orienteering which is carried out using a cross country system, which is finding a number of locations in the real field using the help of maps and compasses in the order of the fastest time.
Met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Monday (30/5/2022), Fatimah expressed her impression of winning this event. He was both surprised and proud of his accomplishments.
“Surprised, more than in disbelief, proud too. But there is still a lot to learn too,” said Fatimah.

Fatimah said that the Dieng Orienteering Race 2022 was the first event she participated in in the field of orienteering.
“This is the first event in orienteering, this is the first time participating in the orienteering competition,” said Fatimah.
Fatimah also said that the preparations started a month before the competition. He prepared himself with his colleagues from UKM Brahmahardhika FKIP UNS.
“It’s also extraordinary here from other Brahmahardhika friends, prepared as they should be. Before participating in the event there is a training center, which is provided by the Brahmahardhika management. For one month, our bodies and minds were processed, especially the ability to read maps and navigate,” explained Fatimah.
At the end, Fatimah conveyed her message and hope that orienteering would be more widely known by the public.
“Orienteering is fun, very exciting in fact. In fact, I regret only knowing orienteering after entering college because it turned out to be really fun. In addition to physical exercise, thought is also used here. So compare both. Especially if you stray, it will be more exciting because your mind will be sharpened more. The hope is that orienteering is better known to other people because the sport of orienteering is very exciting, fun!” Fatimah concluded.
