“When I was declared the winner, I was touched and happy because honestly it was my first time participating in a competition when I was a student. I’ve always been interested in participating in competitions, but went back and forth because I wasn’t sure of my own potential and when I dared to try the results, I really should be grateful,” said Vita.
Vita added that she took part in this competition because she was motivated by her friends who were actively participating in the competition. He said that he got the idea for writing from the experiences he had in the field.
“The motivation came right at the end of the semester. I’m still dizzy thinking about the thesis and then want to find something different. Moreover, many of my friends took part in the competition and won, so I also wanted to participate in the competition during my college years. The way to explore ideas is to think according to my major because we are the ones who understand better, so it’s easy to develop ideas. Besides that, because I have been in the field, I know more about some important things that can be used as materials,” added Vita.
Furthermore, Vita revealed how to get competition information. He also shares tips for writing quality essays.
“I got the information about the competition from a friend who offered to join the competition. In addition, at PGSD itself there is also a group called Kejar or Class Learning which has the aim of sharing information on competitions and writing training. Tips for writing a good essay from me is to read references related to the topic raised, usually I read journals. Apart from that, I also learn more about the correct essay structure,” said Vita.
At the end of the interview session, Vita advised the students to clear their doubts to excel through competitions. According to him, the most important thing is to try rather than regret not trying.
“For friends who are still hesitant to join the competition, let’s get up and go forward. There’s nothing wrong with trying rather than regretting wondering how it feels to join the competition, the most important thing is to try first, leave the problem of losing and winning to Allah, “said Vita.
