FKIP – The Economics Education Student Association (Himannomi) of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Talk About Education and Economic (TACO) with the theme “Investment Literacy with Smart Strategies Ala Millennials”. This event was held online via Zoom Meeting on Saturday (21/5/2022).

The event, which was moderated by Salsa Dewy Masithah, was opened by Dr. Sudarno, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the Head of the Economic Education Study Program (Kaprodi) and presenting Ari Seta Kurniawan, S.E. as Trainer Indonesia Stock Exchange KP Central Java 2.

In his speech, Dr. Sudarno said that nowadays humans are experiencing the changes themselves because technology is very fast because it is entering the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) era.

“It means that we are now living in an era that is changing very, very rapidly or volatility, so full of uncertainty because it changes quickly, then also complex with various factors causing it, and ambiguity, so truth is subjective,” said Dr. Sudarno.

Dr. Sudarno hopes that these kinds of activities can lead students to become the best human beings or useful humans.

“Hopefully all these activities are able to lead you to become the best human or human who is beneficial to all people, this is the highest degree of human being is a useful human being,” he hoped.

The event continued with the presentation of the material. In his presentation, Ari Seta conveyed how to invest in the Indonesian capital market, what are the benefits, and how to take advantage of the Indonesian capital market to become an alternative to get alternative income. According to him, investment consists of three things that need to be considered, namely capital, instruments, and increase in value.

“Investment is an activity to allocate existing capital into one instrument with the hope of an increase in value in the future. We set aside the capital, then we exchange the capital with an investment instrument in the hope that our instrument will increase in value in the future,” he said.

In addition, he also conveyed the myths of investing in the Indonesian capital market that need to be clarified to the public that these myths are not true. Meanwhile, these myths are high risk, need big capital, the same as gambling, investment in the capital market is haram, and investment can get rich right away.

Furthermore, he explained that the easy concept of starting an investment is the 3Ps (understand, own, and monitor). Understand in advance related to investment, risk profile, to the capital market, so that when you already have an understanding of the basics of investing later it will be very easy to start and continue. Furthermore, if you understand, don’t forget to have investment instruments, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Finally, monitoring the investments that have been made.

“First understand the basics of knowledge, then have it, and also monitor it, it’s a concept to easily start investing. Remember! Easy investment with 3Ps,” he explained.
