FKIP – Bakul HIK Pak Ranto, Yu Ginah a street vendor, Mas Pras a lamp repairman, Yu Genjik the MCK guard, Mbak Linda a laundryman, and others can only feel about the environment that has begun to change since the construction of the hotel in their neighborhood.

The construction of the building was accused of blocking water infiltration, causing well water to recede which resulted in difficulty in accessing water for small people, plus the height of the hotel building blocked the sun’s rays which affected Linda’s work as a laundry business, as well as Yu Genjik who had to turn on the MCK lights during the day. day.

Another problem arises when the environment changes, crimes due to inequality arise, by Rodin, a petty thief. His crimes are nothing compared to the big people who ruined the environment behind the establishment of the hotel. There is also a scene where Pak Ranto reunites with his son who was taken away by his mother in childhood.

This is a snippet of a Javanese drama story that was staged by the Surakarta Platform Group at Building F FKIP UNS, on Wednesday-Thursday (30-31/3/2022). The play entitled “Ijen” directed by Ihsan Roh contains social criticism, bringing up development issues that damage the environment, and inequality which is symbolized by the lives of small people.

Zevika Dayu Fitriansha as the production leader said that at first the Ijen play was prepared for the production stage of the Surakarta Platform Group which is planned for 2021. Until then, the Surakarta Platform Group has not been able to pose for a production stage for two years. The process begins in April 2021.

“The Ijen performance was only held at the end of March 2022 after experiencing ups and downs that occurred for almost a year. Starting from PPKM and other restrictions, collisions with other group agendas, internal obstacles in the process, player and artistic substitutions, and so on – “This performance is still held as a production stage, although the management has changed, there is another purpose, namely as a stage for celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Surakarta Platform Group,” he said.

He further explained that the production stage is an annual stage that involves all members, to bring discourse to the community. Therefore, ideally, the production stage is held in various regions. This stage is also a learning ground for members who are still active. Sandiwara is written in Javanese to feel closer to the players and also as a means of learning the Javanese language which is increasingly being eroded by the times. Realist script staging aims to make the stories displayed more acceptable and make sense to the audience because the stories are very close to everyday life.

In addition, he hopes that with the implementation of the play Ijen can shape themselves so that they become an inspiration, especially for members of the Surakarta Platform Group.

“We hope that all efforts and challenges during pre and post-performance are accepted as a process that shapes whoever follows this process. Hopefully, the discourse we convey can be learned by every audience. We hope that this performance will become an inspiration, especially for members of the Platform Group. Surakarta in the future to always work and provide benefits to anyone,” said Zevika.
