FKIP UNS – A total of 16 postgraduate students of Master Degree Science Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta conducted a series of research in the Delingan and Kawas Reservoirs Special Purpose Forest (KHDTK) Mount Bromo, Karanganyar Regency. This activity is a form of research implementation from the Integrated Science Practicum course organized by the Master Degree Study Program of Master of Science Education FKIP UNS (21/05/2022).
The implementation of this research was accompanied by Dr. Masykuri, M.Si, and Dr. Muzzazinah, M.Si as Lecturers of the Integrated Science Practicum course. This study aims to obtain data information related to the condition and quality of the waters in the Delingan reservoir and the diversity in the KHDTK Mount Bromo. “Since the Covid-19 pandemic, this research activity is the first time the Masters of Science Education study program FKIP UNS has organized the return of students to the field,” said Dr. Thank you. With this activity, students are required not only to have mastery of theory but also mastery of good practice and scientific activities.
Delingan Reservoir is a reservoir located in Karanganyar Regency. The reservoir is used as an irrigation source for the surrounding 2,410 ha of land. Of course, Delingan Reservoir is the main source of hope for farmers in irrigating their agricultural areas. This is what attracts FKIP UNS to carry out research activities to analyze the condition and quality of the waters in the area. The implementation of the research was divided into four groups with a focus on observation including related to discharge, pH, and water temperature.
In collecting data in the field, students set four main points as the focus of sampling. The four points include the inlet, body, outlet, and the river flow of the Delingan Reservoir. From the sampling, an analysis will be carried out to test the quality of the water, then tested using UV-Vis spectrophotometry found at the UPT Integrated Natural Sciences Laboratory, UNS. It is hoped that this research can provide the latest information about the condition and quality of the waters in the Delingan reservoir and its surroundings.

In addition, my Master’s also carried out a series of research activities in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) of Mount Bromo. KHDTK Mount Bromo is a forest area in the Karanganyar Regency. This area of 126,291 ha has a wealth of diverse flora and ecosystems. This area is a form of management collaboration by the UNS Education and Forestry Management Unit with the Mount Bromo KHDTK which aims for education, research, and the development of science and technology.
The main research activity of S2 Science Education students in the KHDTK area of Mount Bromo is to analyze the diversity of flora. Diversity data collection was carried out using a plotting system which was divided into several points in the KHDTK area of Mount Bromo. In their observations, students identified the types, numbers, and physical conditions of the various flora found. From these results, it will be developed and compiled into research information that can be used as related literature material. It is hoped that this research will produce the latest data information related to the condition of plants and diversity in the KHDTK area of Mount Bromo.
