FKIP – The Community Service Team of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an Acting Training Based on Traditional Art Scripts for the Uduri Theater Arts Community at the Village Da’wah Building Jaten, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency on Tuesday (19/7/2022).
The Uduri Theater Arts Community (KSTU) is a forum for the younger generation from various backgrounds who concentrate on boosting verbal intelligence through theater arts in order to realize the mental improvement of an increasingly dynamic and humanist generation in the life of a multicultural society.
This team is led by Dr. Sugit Zulianto, M.Pd., with members Prof. Dr. Sarwiji Suwandi, M.Pd., Dr. Rr. E. Nugraheni Eko W., SS, M. Hum., Chafit Ulya, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Titi Setiyoningsih, S.Pd., M.Pd.
This dedication is motivated by the importance of developing the mentality of the young generation who respects various traditional cultures. This was conveyed by Dr. Sugit when interviewed by the journalist team at fkip.uns.ac.id on Thursday (21/7/2022).
“As a Pancasila Fort campus, UNS has a concern in building or mentally shaping the young generation who respects a variety of traditional cultures so that real actions are needed, for example the cultivation of the Pancasila character through traditional art script-based actor training,” said Dr. Sugit.

Furthermore, Dr. Sugit said that the purpose of holding this actor training was to build the skills of teenagers to become actors/actresses.
“The purpose of the training is to develop the skills of teenagers to become actors/actresses, for example playing roles with certain characters in traditional art scripts,” explained Dr. Sugit.
At the end, Dr. Sugit explained the benefits provided by this actor training.
“The benefits for the Community Service Team are getting the opportunity to directly foster and shape the mentality of teenagers in building traditional art-based characters. Meanwhile, participants can understand the basics of character training by utilizing a traditional art script entitled ‘Kisa Malin Kundang’,” said Dr. Sugit.
This training was well received by the participants. This was conveyed by Anisa Lutfiana Rohmi, S.Pd.
“In my opinion, who also happens to be an Indonesian language teacher, who is not very familiar with acting, now I can recognize him so that I can introduce him to my students,” explained Anisa.
Next, Yunus as the secretary of the local RT stated that he is very supportive when teenagers practice being actors/actresses.
“Totally agree. The output apart from being able to play a character well is to get education in the form of positive values that can be implemented in everyday life and negative values that can be left behind, “said Yunus.

Yunus also gave an opinion about the script “Kisah Malin Kundang” when it was used as a means of educating adolescent characters.
“Today’s youth really need an example and an illustration that uploading, polite manners in acting or speaking, and being devoted to parents must be an inherent character in their personality,” Yunus explained.
At the end, Yunus gave a response if teenagers had the opportunity to become actors/actresses through the “Uduri Theater Arts Community” which was guided by academics.
“Just like playing soccer coached by Shin Tae Yong, it will produce good and reliable footballers. Likewise, if you learn roles that are educated by qualified academic experts, God willing, you will produce skilled and professional actors/actresses with noble character,” said Yunus. .
